The hardest part was designing a resilient pipeline that could behave correctly during failure, not only during normal execution. We had to separate trusted and untrusted records, simulate network disruption, retry failed events, prevent duplicates with checkpoints, route malformed data to a DLQ, and still synchronize accepted records into PostgreSQL. Winning would validate our ability to solve real public-sector data problems with practical engineering, not just dashboards. It would encourage our team to keep building resilient data systems for healthcare, climate response, and underserved communities, while strengthening our portfolio and confidence as emerging data professionals.

Project Description
Project RISING, Resilient Intelligent Surveillance & Integrated Next-Generation Healthcare, is a climate-resilient health data engineering platform designed to protect public-health data during network failures, floods, and infrastructure disruptions. The solution combines historical ASEAN health datasets with simulated real-time weather events in a hybrid ingestion pipeline. Batch health files are cleaned, standardized, validated, and prepared for analytics. Real-time events pass through schema validation, retry handling, checkpoint-based duplicate protection, and Dead Letter Queue routing. Accepted records are preserved locally and can be synchronized into a PostgreSQL warehouse for trusted analytics. Project RISING creates impact by helping public-health teams maintain reliable data continuity during emergencies. Valid records are preserved, failed records are recoverable, malformed records are isolated, and decision-makers can continue building even when connectivity is unstable.
